Police on Vancouver Island are on the hunt for a motorcycle rider who posted a video of himself travelling at close to 300 kilometres per hour on a busy highway, weaving in and out of traffic.

The motorcycle even sometimes passes on the centre line with vehicles only slightly more than a metre apart.

Saanich police spokesperson, Sgt. Dean Jantzen, said officers were aware of the video shortly after it was posted on YouTube by user Joe Blow on April 8.

Police are recommending charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

“I cannot use enough adjectives to describe how inappropriate this is,” Jantzen said.

He said the motorcycle is moving at nearly 100 metres per second at points in the video, far too fast for the rider to physically react to any sudden changes in traffic.

“It puts everyone on the road at risk,” he added.
