ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – They said it could never happen. Can you get football fans out to see an opera? Or opera fans out to a football stadium? Well, the naysayers are shaking their heads now, because the first ever partnership between the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Cowboys Organization has resulted in what promises to be a spectacular simulcast this Saturday night.
Mozart’s beloved (and viewer friendly, for non-opera fans) “The Magic Flute” will be performed on the Winspear Opera stage for the usual 2,000+ patrons dressed to the nines. A few miles away, over 30,000+ fans will be sitting in the massive Cowboys Stadium enjoying the same performance wearing whatever they choose! Tony Romo jerseys? Sure! Sweatpants and T-shirts? Sure!
It’s the perfect way to experience the drama and majesty of a very intimidating artform, without all the pomp and circumstance of sitting in an intimate opera house setting.
