Falling glass from high atop the Trump Tower prompted police to block traffic from the intersection of Bay and Adelaide at rush hour Wednesday.
Const. Tony Vella says several cars were damaged but no injuries reported after glass fell from the building at about 4:10 p.m. Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto spokeswoman Dorenda McNeil says a glass panel from the 34th floor fell during construction work.
She says the panel appears to have been dropped by a worker during installation. Media reports suggest the falling pane may have hit another window on the way down.
Ms. McNeil says Trump Toronto management is working with police to investigate the cause.
Const. Vella says it could take some time before the streets are reopened.
“Our main concern is your safety. We need to render the area safe first,” he said.
