The Carnival Triumph is now moving toward the Alabama shore after a broken towline delayed the vessel’s slow journey back to port, a Coast Guard official said Thursday afternoon.

Petty Officer William Colclough says a new tugboat has been secured and the Carnival Triumph is again making its way into Mobile.

The ship will be further delayed because of the towline issue and the new estimated time of its arrival in Mobile is set around 11:30pm or midnight.

The Triumph was being pulled by four tugs Thursday, and the Coast Guard said it had been moving about 8 kph. Before the towline broke, the ship and the 4,000-plus passengers were expected to arrive at the Mobile cruise terminal late Thursday night.
