Canadians more likely to stick with iPhones than BlackBerry smartphones: survey

A new study released earlier this week found that Apple Inc.’s iPhone is the most popular device among Canadian smartphone users while BlackBerry appears to have the lowest brand loyalty, according to a new study released earlier this week.

The survey conducted by Forum Research found that 62% of Canadians 18 years of age and older owned a smartphone, with 21% of users owning an iPhone, followed by a BlackBerry device (14%), or a Samsung  Galaxy (9%).

“Despite the launch of the Q10 and Z10, BlackBerry still concedes the higher end of the market to Apple’s iPhone,” said Forum Research president Lorne Bozinoff.

The poll surveyed 1,310 people.

Forum Research also found that 74% of current iPhone owners plan to stick with Apple, while 53% of Samsung Galaxy owners say they will purchase a new Galaxy phone in the future.
