The Toronto aunt of the two suspects accused in the bombing of the Boston Marathon said she wants proof her nephews were involved in the attack that killed three people and injured more than 175.
“They couldn’t have done this,” Maret Tsarnaev said at her Etobicoke home on Friday. “I do not lightly trust any officials.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died overnight in a gun battle with police. A massive manhunt is underway in the Boston area to apprehend his brother, 19-year-old Dzhokhar. Both are suspected of carrying out the bombing at the finish line of the prestigious marathon.
“I know them as angels,” said Maret, who was with another woman who was visibly upset. “I’m suspicious that this was staged.”
