Matt Gurney: Despite rhetoric, Barack Obama in no hurry to shut Guantanamo Bay prison

Barack Obama’s comments on Tuesday about the need to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp will be welcomed by many, particularly on the American left.

“I’m gonna go back at this,” Obama said at a White House news conference today. “I’ve asked my team to review everything that’s currently being done in Guantanamo, everything that we can do administratively, and I’m gonna re-engage with Congress to try to make the case that this is not something that’s in the best interest of the American people.”
