Perfect Storm Leads To Long Friday Night At Progressive Field

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Friday night, May 31st 2013 will go down as maybe the strangest night of baseball ever played at Progressive Field.

Instead of a early summer night of baseball between the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and the Indians, the night for the most part turned into a game of waiting.

Waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

All in all, the two teams and fans (29,603) waited a staggering 4 hours and 49 minutes while rain came down at Progressive Field.

The game itself was a wash as well for the Indians, who were beat up for a 9-2 loss the Rays, and frankly were never in it.

The fans that stuck around ate plenty of $1 hot dogs (they were discounted to two for a dollar after all the rain), but the usual Friday night fireworks show was canceled.
