EDMONTON – The grassroots initiative Make Something Edmonton has been gaining momentum, and its organizers want City Council’s help to keep it going.
They say the movement – which is about celebrating what’s great about Edmonton, and then creating branding around that – needs more funding. While organizers want to work a bit more closely with City Hall and with Economic Development, they would also like to maintain the independence of Make Something Edmonton.
“We want this to become an independent, citizen-governed, citizen-led initiative, as well as the projects. We’ve got almost 300 projects. We want to continue that,” said Chris LaBossiere, Co-Chair of the Make Something Edmonton Task Force.
Outgoing mayor Stephen Mandel is in support of that.
